Charleston exploration and food, of course

After some boat work, filling diesel with jugs and filter, Deb and I walked to town. We walked the waterfront park and the City Market. We shopped at Target. I got a small food chopper to make the cranberry relish, a travel soap dish for David and the graham crackers I had forgotten for the pie crust.

Filled diesel from jugs as pump on our dock out of order. Then went in golf cart with marina staff to fill jugs at fuel dock. David just filled and is emptying siphon hose back into jug.

David joined us for lunch at the Sweetwater Cafe which featured a good crab bisque, salads and a decadent fried green tomato blt.

We then went to Kaminsky’s dessert cafe to get Jeff a slice of his favorite pie, the tollhouse pecan. It is basically a chocolate chip cookie crust, baked a little chewy, with pecan pie filling on top. We just had to try a slice. People were buying pies like crazy for Thanksgiving. They also had cakes there, giant tall cakes that looked like Carol’s.

We walked back to the boat past rainbow row and the park with the lovely live oak trees.

We did laundry and looked at potential routes South. It is supposed to be in the 30’s friday with winds 20-30 from the North. Jeff and Deb are going outside to Fernandina Beach,Fl. but we are thinking of taking the waterway a bit. We have never seen this section and with the cold and higher winds behind us, feel the waterway will be a bit more comfortable. Our friend Bruce has been doing daily sections and giving us updates on tide, current and anchorages.
