Cocoa anchorage to Vero Beach

mile 897-951.5

We did not budge during the night. It took a long time to raise the anchor while washing off the thick mud.

We headed out down a narrow deep channel in a wide open bay. The scenery and towns on each side were too far away to see well.

Just before Vero Beach, it began to get more interesting with mangrove lined islands with white sand beaches. People on small boats were visiting the beaches. We saw dolphins and a manatee came up and flipped its tail.

We headed into the Vero Beach City Marina. We had a very narrow slip , the last one on the end with the inside of the fuel dock on our port side. I should have had lines and bumpers on both sides. We managed however and did not hit our port side. The staff were very helpful.

While we were getting settled, I got a text from the parking lot. I started to walk out the dock and there was another of our favorite Floridians searching for us.

We sat and watched the boats come in. We decided to have an early dinner together at the Riverside Cafe which is a nice restaurant near our marina. The Mahi sandwich was delicious and we could watch the waterway, talk, and catch up on things. We had a great visit and made plans to go to the farmer’s market together in the morning.
