It was another regatta day, with the big boat race around the island. It was still quite windy. We wanted to walk to the monument to see the race start and then walk back with the boats as they sailed down the ocean side.
We started at Sand Dollar beach and walked the trail across to the ocean side, then headed north down the island, then made the climb to the monument. The ocean side looked a little rough.

We climbed up to monument where we saw the boats traversing the northern cut. Several other boaters were there watching. Irish Rover had their radio so we could hear the race commentary. Another boater brought binoculars.

We stayed to watch the boats race out on the ocean side. There were some passes out there. One boat was really pushing, flying their spinnaker. We later heard that their steering cable broke after getting in the south cut. Yikes. All boats finished safely. Pax the trimaran dusted everyone.

We walked back, stopping by Peace and Plenty for a burger. We met a very nice couple, Tommy and Marla from S/V Alboe which stands for a little bit of everything, or in the Bahamas, “everyting.” It is a Westsail which is a full keel boat like ours. Beautiful boat.
