Morning spent readying for a possible outside passage to Wrightsville or Southport. we listened to Webinar. Chris Parker advised against a coast hugging trip to wrightsville. He suggested a departure time of around 4 for a Southport passage more off shore. All of the apps showed a nw wind that would have been ok for a reach and then diminishing winds.
We went to check out pirates and had burgers at the St. James cafe,Beaufort’s oldest business. Visited the knife shop of the pirate we saw last night. The kid tried to sell us a stealth blade sheathed in a deer antler.

We left the dock at 2. Mitchell and Bob helped us from the dock and David reversed beautifully into the current and wind and we left the dock like pros. It was a beautiful thing. Headed to the inlet and with a swashbuckling attitude pulled up the sails ( reefed). As we exited the inlet, waves were about 6 feet and the wind and waves were coming from the direction we wanted to go. It would have been an impossible slog. Austin got a sail in though, and the boat was fine. We turned around and and sailed back in and motored to an anchorage near Sugarloaf island in Morehead City.

Spaghetti, salad, David a guitar lesson, Chauncey (Austin won), reading and bed. Planning an early departure in am.
