We needed to do some planning but it was a beautiful morning. We took bikes to an overlook and did our planning there. The overlook view is off the ocean side and the long beach there where we swam yesterday.

Tomorrow we will head to Allen’s Cay to see some rock iguanas. We will not stay there but will come back to Highbourne anchorage or head on to Shroud. There may be an opportunity to go into Sanctuary Creek on Wednesday morning and then head to Warderick Wells either Wednesday or Thursday. That was about as far as we could plan. We made a list of other to do items for the time after lunch.
We next went to Horseshoe beach for some paddleboarding. I took the paddleboard out and David followed in a kayak. There was only one other family on the beach, a young family with a toddler who was enjoying her new walking skills on the beach. I fell off the board only once.

We took the bikes to the end of the road, parking and exploring beaches along the way. At one place is a sign for a spring, but not one with water.

The beaches around the island were beautiful and we had them mostly to ourselves except for one beach where there was a group of loud partiers with a drone. They were enjoying themselves but were not very considerate, leaving fruit from their morning cocktails strewn on the beach. The beach there was beautiful with some mangroves and there was a reef just outside that looked fun to snorkel.

After discovering a few more beaches, we walked our bikes down a path to the end of the long beach. We got a few prickers getting to the beach but made it. Parts of the beach were ok for riding but we had to walk the bikes for some of the way. No one else was on the long beach. We stopped to swim when we got hot. It was about a 1 1/2 mile trek down the beach before we got to the road again. We biked the road back to the marina.

We did some chores in the heat of the day, reservations, fill fuel from our jugs, and water. Highbourne marina is out of fuel until next Tuesday. I feel bad for them with all of the hungry mega yachts wanting fuel.
Soon it was sunset and time to go to the restaurant. It is such a special place. The food was amazing. we had a shrimp appetizer and I had fish in a curry sauce. There was a side dish with plantains, lettuce and lychee fruit. David had fish also with a tomato salad with red onion, cucumber and capers in a yogurt lined bowl. Thomas was our waiter and was super nice. We had met him last year.

We also met Brittany who has been there two years. She is in charge of guest services. All of the employees live in Da Village. They get off the island for 2-3 days stretches during the high season. She loves seeing the birds come through on their migration path and loves the quieter summer months on the island.
We headed to the boat where we met Stephen, the dock master. He was waiting for the last boat due to come in. He felt they may not be coming tonight because of delayed passenger flights in Nassau. We talked for a while about the world events and his time doing boat deliveries from the US. He likes Charleston. He grew up on Long Island, the Bahamian one, and a schoolmate of his went so UVA medical school. His last name was Carey. Small ocean.
