We were excited to go exploring in St. Augustine and planned a bike trip to the lighthouse and then on to St. Augustine Beach. Rain was predicted for much of the remainder of the weekend but this day was sunny with no rain expected.
We launched Fat Tuesday and headed to the marina.

We stopped at Peace, Love, and Little Donuts for, you know.

We looked at the map and picked our bike spot, the one on King Street. The bike shop had a very reasonable 24 hour rate and nice cruisers. We rode back through the Lincolnville neighborhood and stopped at the marina to use the facilities before heading across the bridge. I used my marina card to open the restroom door, then replaced it in my wallet.

We headed to the bridge and stopped to take pictures with the Lion.

We crossed the bridge and headed through a neighborhood parallel to the main street where it was quiet and no cars. We passed the alligator farm and crossed the street at the crosswalk, then entering the lighthouse park. We locked the bikes at the lighthouse and went in.
We had been before so we checked out the boatbuilding project and then climbed the lighthouse. It was a little cloudy at that point but we could see Josie in the harbor.

We walked through the keeper’s house, a part of the museum that we had not seen before, and then headed out toward the beach.
About halfway to the beach, I realized that my wallet was not in my pocket. We felt like we should go and look for it. The last time I knew I had it was at the marina bath house. David had a picture of me at the Lion that showed my pocket zipped and my wallet likely there.
We returned to the lighthouse. No one had returned a wallet. We left my phone number with them and looked around. We went back to the marina, spoke with them and searched the bathroom and the area around the lion statue. No luck. We checked the bank accounts and there was no activity. We decided to ride back out to the lighthouse one more time. This time we climbed back up the tower and looked around the top and where the lens is. We looked in every room, we had been in. No wallet.
We were beyond hungry so decided to ride out to the beach and have lunch. We ate at our favorite beach spot and walked on the beach for just a few minutes as we had to ride back before dark. We looked for the wallet one more time on our ride back.

As it was our only nice night to see the town and the lights, we decided to walk around despite our fatigue and our frustration. We walked around and listened to some street singers and some bands. The last band at the Colonial Oak was a Grateful Dead tribute band. Everyone was dressed in Dead swag, some even with tattoos to prove their allegiance to the band. It was a friendly scene.
We headed back to the boat as the last pirate ship of the evening was heading out. I cancelled my credit cards. Tomorrow will start with credit freeze and reporting my lost drivers license.
