Waiting for abatement

Chris Parker, the weather expert that we all rely on, said the winds would abate during the day. We had planned a trip to town but it was still quite wavy and windy and we were not seeing much abatement. We also wanted to snorkel on a couple of reefs close to shore and try out our go pro camera under water.

We are going to town about every three days. We are trying to keep our water topped off so that if we want to go somewhere, we will have enough for a longer journey. We use about 2- 2.5 gallons a day and have 100 gallons on the boat. Trash is the other thing that tends to build up but we can store that for longer if needed.

David topped off our fuel from our stores. We had only used what it took to get from Staniel Cay here and we sailed a lot of that. We needed about 7 gallons replaced in our jugs.

We loaded our fuel jugs and our water jugs and headed over. We were able to pull right up to the water spigot and filled the water. David they took the dinghy to the fuel dock to get diesel. One man had been waiting 2 hours. David did not have to wait too long. We got a loaf of bread from the lady that sold it last year and headed back across.

Jeff and Deb had invited us for fried rice dinner at 5 pm so we had a few hours to try our beach snorkel. We did not have high hopes for the small reef close to the beach but wanted to check it out and practice using our camera.

We landed on the beach and saw Alice there with Banjo. Banjo had been playing ball. He greeted us and rolled in the sand. We went in and swam around. It was very shallow but on the second reef, we saw fish and anemone type creatures. David captured some good images and we had a good swim.

Jeff and Deb had fried rice dinner night and a salad with ginger dressing and crispy wontons on top. It was all delicious. Dawson was a good host. He barked a little when we got there but truly enjoyed sitting with us in the cockpit and eating treats out of our hands. We are making progress.
