Last evening, there was a little bit of excitement at the dock as the coast guard brought a boat in that was taking on water. Summer Wind had hit some rocks near Jekyll Island and sustained damage to their hull. They had just bought the boat two days prior and were bringing it to Savannah. We helped them tie up and offered assistance. Their bilge pump was able to keep up for the moment but they would need to be hauled out for a repair.
We gave Josie a thorough cleaning and filled fuel and water. I jumped in the marina pool. Steven picked us up around noon and we went to the house. He had picked up a wonderful barbecue lunch and we joined Christina at the house.

It is a new house for them. They just moved there in the fall but it looked like home. There was lots of space and a nice backyard with a pool that Steven had heated. We sat in the pool most of the afternoon, it was lovely and sunny. It was great to catch up on family and to reminisce about the Gibson sisters.
Their yard looks out on some marshland. A red hawk was building a nest in a tree next door and was flying over to pick up branches. Some, he could barely fly with. We are worried about the hawk because Steve and Christina have 2 little dogs, Ivy and Sweetpea. They are most adorable and made me miss Burt and Cholula. The hawk could be a threat. We all felt they would be safe on the porch and the little side yard they use when they go out on their own. The back yard, however, is large with plenty of swooping room for a hawk.

Steve is busy with music and art. He plays ukulele, a miniature banjo, mandolin and harmonica. He is in a group that plays in town on Wednesdays. He is still painting and some of his lovely paintings are in the house. He has sold a lot this year. Christina does a lot of volunteering and spent the morning at the food bank. They both love to find and sell antiques. They have a little booth.

In the late afternoon, we ran errands while they organized for their antique booth. They loaned us Christina’s red jeep. We went to West Marine. I talked David into a beanbag chair. A lot of boaters have them. It makes a comfortable seat and puts you up high for forward visibility while steering. It is giant for our boat but should compress a bit. We shall see.
I then went to Aldi because it was next to West Marine. I had never been to one. I did not have a quarter to release a cart so I did not like the store. The line was too long to get change. I finally got a bag to put my items in. After carrying things aisle to aisle, I really did not like the store. I got to the check out with my bag full of groceries. I was quite finished with Aldi. She rang it up and said $20. All of a sudden, I loved the place! I just have to bring a quarter, which you get back when you return the cart.
We had dinner at the marina restaurant, Coastal Kitchen. I had some South Carolina fare, redfish, grits and collards. It was delicious. And great company!

Summer Wind was still at the dock when we returned. but they had a plan in the works. We leave early in the morning for Charleston.
