The winds calmed a bit and clocked south and then west. We wanted to go to town to prepare for travels so we anchored outside of town on the west side of the harbour in Kidd’s Cove. We went to town for water, laundry, grocery, garbage and filling diesel jugs. The wind was supposed to switch back to the east so our plan was to move back over after our trip to town.
They were still out of diesel at the gas station. They were also out of gasoline. The trucks were expected at 11, then 2, then 4. I went to the laundry and got things started. Trevor was there with Miss Lee’s daughter. He guided me to a washer.
There is a dryer Jeff calls the dragon. It is an old machine with wires coming out of the front and an old rag stuffed into the coin slot area. There is also some duct tape which may be structural. At the opening below the top, when it is running, you can see fire coming out. I was happy to get some footage when Trevor fired it up.

We got water and provisions but no diesel and headed back to the boat. We had planned a dinner with Jeff and Deb for the last Bingo of the season. The wind was still west so we decided to spend the night at Kidd’s Cove. Jeff and Deb dinghied over. The Jambalaya turned out well and we shared a slice of coconut pastry from Sandra who sells bread in town.

Jeff and David plan an early morning run for diesel. thanks to Deb for great photos of our evening.
