Fort Lauderdale mooring day 2

We got up early for the Chris Parker weather report. He provides a weather service for sailors. You buy a package to have access. There are two daily emails, one for the east coast and one for the Bahamas and Caribbean. Then there is a daily webcast which begins around 6 am. During the webcast, he reviews the weather in the Caribbean/Bahamas and then the weather along the east coast.

At the end of the webcast, you can type messages into the group chat and he answers your questions. You could ask, when is the best time to leave for a certain area or what is the best route to take. You also buy some credits when you sign up which allows you to have a personal phone call/email to discuss your specific route planning. We had been watching a narrow weather window Sunday afternoon into Monday for a Gulf Stream crossing which seems to now extend through Monday into Tuesday. Winds will be very light which is not great for sailing but will be good for crossing the Gulf Stream calmly. It looks like it will be possible to cross tomorrow.

We will try to head to Chub Cay and check in there. Then we will go to West Bay on New Providence Island for a very protected anchorage on Tuesday. It will be a bit windy Tuesday evening into Wednesday so we will likely wait until later in the week to move south to the Exumas. We plan to head out tomorrow in the early afternoon. We will stop on our way out for fuel and water, being very careful with each:)

We spent the day getting last minute items and completing our customs form for the Bahamas.

Fat Tuesday is strapped on deck again. We will stay at the mooring tonight.
