Still in Coinjock, or not really in Coinjock but across the canal from the town proper. Strong winds with gusts to 30’s predicted although the morning started calmly. The current, however was already moving southward by morning likely spilling out of the Currituck from the south winds of yesterday. We are recognizing that it will be difficult to get off this docks in such a current when we are wedged between two boats within inches. We looked at the weather and decided to stay another night due to concerns getting into the alligator river at the other end of Albemarle sound.
Decided to devote the day to various boat projects. Pump out done on a rolling station. Thought we were good on fuel. Filled water tanks and realized we may not have filled them before. Tried to get blog in a reasonable format for sharing. Frustration there. John helping. Toward the end of the day, we decided to hook up our foot pump. We cut our water hose and installed the 3 way valve. Great success! Something accomplished.
Talked more with neighbors. Met dogs. There was Raven, a 7 year old black lab who belongs to the marina. As I walked in to the ship store, she immediately rolled over for a belly scratch. And then there was Frankie, Cholula’s twin from the boat behind us. Then we met Emily, a small puggy dog with a bit of tongue exposed.

Met Chris on SV Yar and his wife Lisa. Yar is a beautiful Passport. They have crossed the Atlantic in a prior boat and done all sorts of other things. He recently climbed Kilimanjaro. He feels tired and is thinking of not continuing the journey. Urged him to go a little further and not end here. His mast is 64 feet and his antenna have been touching tops of bridges. A little shorter bridge lies ahead in Bellehaven.
Walked past boat ramp park tonight bridge on waterlily road. Chickens and ducks in the neighborhood yards. Evening route planning. Winds dropping for sound crossing. Need to make it somewhere relatively safe for bad weather Thursday and Friday.
Spaghetti for dinner, first 1/3 recipe. Forgot parsley.
