Bikes at Cape Eleuthera

I woke up early to check out the sunrise from sunrise beach. The resort and marina has two beaches, sunrise and sunset. To get to sunrise, you cross a little bridge over a lagoon. There are some huts and tables on the beach.

They have bikes at the marina for exploring. It was difficult to find two in working order but we finally found two good enough. Ty let me use the one he had been using as they were going fishing in the small skiff that they use as a tender for the large boat.

We decided to do the four mile loop. It took us around the western side of the property. The eastern side of the loop was just a road through vegetation. There were some homes built back there and some unfinished sites. As we came around to the western side, we stopped at 4th hole beach. It was a mostly rocky beach with some sand, a swing, and a picnic table. We saw a boat bring some snorkelers to a reef fairly close to the beach. There was an old stone wall running along the back of the beach.

We then passed a lagoon which looked interesting to go through by boat but we did not have one handy. We then explored an area called No Name Harbour, a deep dredged area with a deep inlet. A local boat was fishing at the inlet. The area was beautiful. There were unusually colored clam shells and hills of hermit crabs.

We returned to the boat for lunch and then started in on laundry. We met some other boaters at the laundry. There is a group here from Charlottesville/Earlysville. Their children went to Broadus Wood elementary, David’s elementary school, and attended summer camps at Panorama Farms.

After laundry, we went to the pool and then the beach. We went for a paddleboard down the beach. The resort has paddleboards and kayaks for use on the beach.

The restaurant closed at 4 on Fridays but the marina offered pizza night at a bar they opened for the occasion near the docks. You turned in a pizza order by 4 to the office and you could pick up your pizza as early as 6. Most of the boaters were there and a few boater dogs. One of my favorites was Ollie, a large light golden retriever. He enjoyed pizza night thoroughly.
