A walk to Castle Beach, dinner with friends

Our friends Alice from S/V Grace and Tommy and Marla from Alboe are also anchored here. They arrived yesterday. We decided to try to go to dinner together at Lorraines. I called and made a reservation for 5 pm.

There was another beach we wanted to go to so we docked at the government dock and set out on a walk. We stopped again at the blowhole as it was on the way. It was spitting some seaweed today.

Seaglass beach, as it is called on no foreign land, was small. We did not find any seaglass but it was pretty. We passed by some regatta.boats on the way.

We then remembered that you could walk to town from the anchorage just south, so we decided to walk there and check it out. It was about a 2 mile trek. We bought an ice cream sandwich for lunch and a bottle of water for the hike. The school children were out for lunch and were so adorable in their uniforms.

The trek was mostly along a road that was not busy. It looked like someone had built the road to build a community at the next point south. There was the main road and lots of side roads and cleared areas but very little in the way of building going on. The road followed along the sound side for awhile and then turned toward the bank side. We saw a castle like structure on the point.

Shortly thereafter, a path led down to a beautiful beach with the anchorage behind it. The cove was formed by two beaches with some rocks in between. There was a large pink house set back from the beach. There were no signs telling us we shouldn’t be on the beach so we swam to cool off from the hike and had some water in the shade. Then we walked around the rocks to the other beach. It was a beautiful anchorage.

We made our way back to town, got some frozen ground beef at Adderly’s and headed back to the boat. I asked about frozen meats at Darlene’s also.

“All I have are frozen whole chickens,” she said.

“I don’t think a whole chicken would fit in my pot,” I replied.

“It would if you half it.” she said. True that.!

At 445. we took the dinghy back to town to Lorraine’s restaurant dock. The food was delicious and it was fun to be with some fellow boaters. We missed Jeff and Deb.

The plan for us is to move to Staniel Cay tomorrow. Alboe is staying at Black Point, hoping for an opportunity to head out the cut to Eleuthera . Alice is going to Staniel also. She is waiting for a motor part to be delivered there. We hope to cross paths with them again.
