35 years

Today we begin our 36th year together. I could not be happier about that. I feel so lucky to share my life with David.

We headed up the waterway with a destination of Wrightsville Beach today. Austin planned to meet us there to have dinner with us. We would then head outside for Beaufort early in the morning.

Current against us leaving Southport

We started in the marsh around Southport. Snow’s cut was a rocky narrow section that then opened up to the beaches of the Crystal Coast.

It was beautiful and there was not too much boat traffic. We got to Wrightsville in the early afternoon and anchored near the dinghy dock.

Towing toy boats

We decided to have dinner on the boat. We had some ingredients for fried rice and many of the restaurants in town were closed on Mondays. We went ashore to check out the dinghy dock and parking situation for Austin. We went to Robert’s grocery and bought some items, including a key lime pie. We had a little ice cream. This was a two dessert day.

We walked to the beach which was beautiful but it was windy and a little chilly. We waded a bit.

Austin arrived and we took him out to the boat. We listened to music and watched the sunset. Austin blew the horn. We cooked together. It was a fun evening and we lost track of time. When we realized it was 10 o’clock, we took Austin back to the dock. He had a two and a half hour drive home. We had to prepare for a 4 am departure in order to get to Beaufort tomorrow before the outgoing tide at the inlet.
