It took us about 2 months to get here. Granted, we had places we stopped along the way, mostly because we wanted to see new places, other times because of weather. It took our new arrivals about 6 hours to get here from North Carolina. John suggested that next time we should consider taking a plane. John, Austin, Sara and Michael arrived here on time around noon. We met them for lunch at the Sandpiper restaurant. Food ranged from hummus plate to Thai bowl to cheeseburger, all good. All of their luggage fit in a nook beside our garden table.

We then marched down the street with luggage to the Exuma market for some quick provisioning, mainly some staples for the house like bbq potato chips and Chips ahoy cookies as well as the vegetable for tonight’s dinner, broccolini. I purchased a fillet of grouper at Tranee’s hair salon and fish market.

Then it was off to the dock of Exuma Yacht Club to await Elvis Water Taxi. We think Elvis’ son was driving. We saw a turtle swimming near the dock.

And then, just as soon as we got them here, we sent them off across the harbor in the water taxi. David and I made the crossing in Fat Tuesday. We were loaded with some groceries and water.

We met them at Kevali house after dropping off water at the boat. Everyone wanted to head to the beach. We found a path across that first went to an overlook with nice chairs. We almost left John there. Michael was already in the ocean through a narrow passage of sand between two rock ledges. We followed him out. The waves were crashing so it was an exciting swim. We made it out and back in. We then sat in a mellow tide pool.

The sun was starting to disappear behind the island so we hiked back to the house and prepared to travel to Chat ‘N’ Chill beach . It was difficult to determine which of the kayaks on the dock were for guest use. Most were in some state of disrepair and lacked seats but seemed big enough for two people each. Once again, I watched our group take off across the water. John and Michael were a little low in the water. Both Kayaks made it.

We looked for rays at Chat N Chill but only found one and he did not approach us. Sara spotted small starfish in the water. We had not seen them there before.

Chat ‘N’ Chill was having a dance so we made a few moves on the beach. We watched the Exuma sunset.

The kayaks made it back to the dock and we had dinner at the house. The broccolini was delicious. The house is clean and the kitchen functional. One shower trickles cold water but the other is good. There is WiFi. There were plenty of clean towels. I had seen whole shelf of spices when we visited but the people there must have brought them. It was fun to improvise and use what was there. There was a tiny bit of olive oil , some Frank’s hot sauce, and a small bottle of A1 in the refrigerator.

I didn’t want to leave but we had to return to the boat. Michael was already asleep on the sofa. They were all tired from their early departure. We found our boat easily and raised Fat Tuesday as the wind was picking up again. We are renting a motor boat again tomorrow and will cross and get the boat and return with it to the house. We are planning a day of island exploration tomorrow.
