Errands and boat chores filled the morning as we planned spaghetti night on Josie for Jeff and Deb. Sand is difficult to keep out of the boat. A beach seems to be forming on Josie. It would be nice to have a washdown system in the cockpit. Our solar shower system may make this possible. David took a break to toss a line. After a few lure losses, he caught a small grouper. Beautiful. We need some wire leader.

The event of the day was the annual rooftop concert over in hole one also known as the fruit bowl. This is where most of the houseboats stay and most of them are named for fruit. The concert was on the houseboat Tangelo. The concert benefits the local Exuma youth band. They raised over $1000.00.
The concert planners were very mindful of the weight limit on the rooftop. Certain band members had to go down for others to come up. There was a banjo, base, several guitars, some percussion, a keyboard and some intermittent trumpet and harmonica. The house boat was anchored off the beach so instruments and musicians were transported from beach to boat in a dinghy that was pulled back and forth. David contributed the video which captures the scene and has some great beach umbrella footage.

There were familiar tunes, some with word changes with appropriate apologies given. One of my favorites was a “Don’t worry, Be Happy” boater adapted tune. There was a verse about losing your dinghy, hitting a reef, etc. Jeff quickly thought of a verse for us. “Put a little water in my diesel tank…..(realized the mistake and my heart sank-added by me), don’t worry, be happy.” There were other sing-along songs like “Hang on Sloopy,” “Have You Ever Seen Lorraine,” and “Sweet Caroline.” They did a great job with “Southern Cross,” which is a hard song to get right.
After the concert, Jeff and Deb came for dinner on our boat. We managed fairly well but I cooked too much orzo. Pasta salad for the next few days. Deb brought a spice cake and a can of vanilla frosting.
