Started around 9. Winds from north at 15-20, forecasted to drop through the day. Large waves on Chesapeake, up to 6 feet. Rough crossing on downwind sail.

Saw pelican, gannet, dolphin.
Lots of rattling but nothing broke on crossing. Eggs turned over in refrigerator several times.

Crossed HRBT in record time. Amazed at how different it looks from the water
Elizabeth river very scenic in a man made way. Constant tugs and ships. First the naval fleet with perimeter and patrol boats, then the container ships, then the dredge and the barren land behind it. Then the coal port with the rail cars full of coal.

Then onto the cities of Portsmouth and Norfolk. A fluorescent fleet sails in the harbor. I called it the highlighter fleet. Bright lights all around.

Dinner 1/2 # burger, avocado rice, 1 can rotel, garden pepper.
Finished off the pie. Evening route planning followed by early sleep. Train noise nice, no wind, a few rocks of wake but nothing alarming.
